Dino Cotton, a business owner and board member on Anthem Community Council, has filed a statement of interest with the Secretary of State’s office, intending to run in the primary election for State Representative in District 1, which encompasses parts of the North Valley and a vast, sparsely populated region to the north and west, including Prescott.
Cotton is one of several Republicans having submitted a statement of interest, along with one Democrat, vying for two seats total. He needs 592 nomination-petition signatures by April 6 to qualify for the ballot. To focus on the run, Cotton has decided not to run for re-election on the ACC board.
“I want to help with the issues that affect us all but at a much greater and far more important level,” Cotton told In&Out. “I think it’s time we had a representative who will protect rural Arizona. We need an honest, straight shooter, who makes every decision with integrity. I believe that I am that person.”

The would-be candidate notes there has not been a state representative from the Anthem area since 2010. “I will strategically address all issues that affect us, including water, safety, education, and transportation,” he said. “I will be your voice and we will be heard.”
Cotton owns Rezeo, an executive and technology recruiting firm. He and his family have lived in Anthem for more than seven years.
