Tramonto, New River, Desert Hills and Anthem residents can vote in the special general election April 24 for Arizona’s Congressional District 8 (CD8), to fill a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives created by the resignation of Trent Franks in December.

WHO IS RUNNING: The primary in February narrowed the race down to two candidates: Democrat Hiral Tipirneni and Republican Debbie Lesko. (Click on their names to visit their web sites.)

REGISTRATION: Deadline to register to vote in this election was Monday, March 26.

VOTE BY MAIL: Voters on the Permanent Early Voting List (PEVL) will automatically receive a ballot by mail. They’ll be sent March 28. Voters not on the PEVL can request a ballot by mail until Friday, April 13. Ballots should be mailed by April 18 to ensure their arrival on or before election day, the County Recorder’s office advises.

EARLY VOTING IN PERSON: Several polling locations will be open prior to April 24, for any registered voter who wishes to cast their ballot early and in person. List of Early Voting Locations

VOTING ON ELECTION DAY: You can search here for the polling location closest to your home, or see a map of polling locations. There are three polling locations for eligible voters in our area:

  • Daisy Mountain Fire Station 43814 N New River Rd Phoenix, 85087 (New River)
  • Desert Hills Community Church 34835 N 7th St Phoenix, 85086 (Deadman Wash, Desert Hills, Tramonto)
  • North Valley Regional Library/Anthem 40410 N Gavilan Peak Pkwy Phoenix, 85086 (Biscuit Flat, Gavilan Peak, Hastings, Majesty, Wolf Run)

WHAT TO BRING: To vote in person, bring a valid Arizona driver license, or see this list of other acceptable forms of identification.
