Construction is expected to begin late spring or early summer on 13 freestanding senior-living cottages in Anthem, said Krista Solomon, general manager at Merrill Gardens. The company recently received approval from Anthem Community Council for the designs, materials and landscaping of the project at the southwest corner of Daisy Mountain Drive and Meridian Drive.

The cottages will sit on 4 acres at Rose Canyon Circle. Merrill will rent the homes on a monthly basis to independent seniors age 55 and up who don’t need care service but desire access to the dining program, wellness program and the swimming pool at the main building, as well as activities and transportation.

Ranging from 1,400 to 1,679 square feet, each single-story home will have two bedrooms, a kitchen, great room, plus private patio space and a garage. The architecture is compatible with the main building and distinct from other Anthem homes.
