Hiring Underway at Soon-to-Open Dove Valley Road Businesses

For 15 years, In&Out Magazine has been the definitive source of “Everything that’s going on” in and out of the community. We thank you, our readers, as well as the businesses that support the magazine through advertising, for that opportunity. But with little going on, and many businesses suspending or canceling their ads during the Covid-19 crisis, we are suspending publication of the magazine and web sites for the month of May.

Construction is nearing completion on several businesses in the Canyon Crossroads shopping plaza on Dove Valley Road, home to the recently opened Fry’s Marketplace. And several of the businesses are hiring.

The Pet Wellness Center, a full-service veterinarian clinic, had a sign in the window last week saying it would open late August. Great Clips and Pinky’s Nails & Spa are both getting close to opening and are hiring.

Pet Planet, a family business with more than 50 stores in Canada and the United States, expects to open Thursday, Sept. 14, company spokesperson Kiley Nothman told In&Out. Pet Planet calls itself a “natural” pet grocer, selling pet food and products and offering grooming services. It is hiring part-time employees for the store, Nothman said.

Construction is in earlier stages at Limon Tacos and Tequila, a locally owned restaurant. Barro’s Pizza plans to open Oct. 2, said Andy Wilson, company vice president. Barro’s will hire 20 to 30 people, including cooks, counter personnel and delivery drivers, Wilson said.

Burger King is going up on a pad detached from the main building. Other businesses coming to the plaza: AutoZone, Devoted Family Dental, Pressed Cleaners. Negotiations are in progress to fill the one remaining retail shop space and one of the two vacant pads left in the plaza, said David Beckham of Beckham Gumbin Ventures.
