New River Road is being resurfaced from I-17 eastward all the way around Daisy Mountain and down to Desert Hills Drive.

The project began earlier this month and is slated to be completed in October, said Ron Coleman, spokesperson for the Maricopa County Department of Transportation. It includes repaving parts of 27th Avenue in New River, as well as the section of 27th Avenue in Desert Hills (Daisy Mountain and Anthem separate the two sections). Two other smaller roads will be repaved, too.

Guardrails are being updated along the roads, too.

“The new pavement will help to improve both the ride and safety of the roadway,” Coleman said. “There will be lane restrictions and possible delays during construction. Please obey traffic control signs and personnel and drive with caution.”
