Ever since the Shin family moved to Arizona from Korea 12 years ago, Daniel Shin has been a sushi chef. Now he and his wife Jenny Shin have opened their own place, Echo Sushi, in Tramonto.

In a relatively small unit formerly occupied by Pho Saigon Pearl, which moved to a larger unit two doors down, Echo opened in mid-July. The redesigned interior could be called urban rustic, with a hint of Asian decor and subtle art by Jenny Shin. The few tables are complemented by bar seating.

You’ll find all the traditional sushi dishes, plus a wide selection of salads, fried rice, ramen and noodle dishes, along with lunch combos like the Carefree Special, and a separate dinner menu. The restaurant serves beer, wine and of course, sake.

The dinner hour tends to be crowded — reservations are accepted. The restaurant is closed Sundays.
