Adult Orchestra auditions are being scheduled for a variety of time slots on Sunday, August 12th. Open positions include all strings, clarinet, oboe, principal trumpet and bass trombone. Audition instructions and excerpts can be found at the website.
Auditions for Youth Strings (NVYS) and Youth Orchestra (NVYO) are being scheduled on Sunday, August 19th. NVYS is an intermediate level orchestra, mostly comprised of junior high or early high school students with 2-3 years experience. NVYO challenges students to advance their skills with demanding repertoire, and drills to improve playing technique. NVYO members are typically in high school or early college, however younger students are welcome to audition. Audition instructions and excerpts for Youth Strings can be found here, and for Youth Orchestra here.
NVSO also offers a beginning level orchestra, North Valley Symphonettes (NVS). Young string players will focus on technique and theory, while learning music for performance in concerts. NVS is open to students with at least one year of experience on their instrument, including basic music reading skills. There is no audition required for Symphonettes.
All NVSO ensembles begin rehearsals August 20th. Auditions will be scheduled again in December for the 2nd half of the season. For more information, use the “Contact Us” form at the website, or call 623-980-4628.
