If you noticed the heavy traffic around Carefree Highway and I-17 last weekend, or spent some time with the big crowd at the Outdoor Expo at Ben Avery, then you might’ve guessed the turnout was big. Record, in fact. The event drew 52,000 visitors over the March 30-31 weekend, breaking the previous weekend record of 46,600, set in 2017, the Arizona Game and Fish Department said today.
If you missed it, here’s what you missed.
“We’re not aware of any other free event of this scale that combines conservation, recreation and industry into such a welcoming environment for the public,” said AZGFD Director Ty Gray. “This is where people can find plenty of hands-on activities, see educational exhibits, test and purchase the latest equipment and products, and connect with social organizations that can provide countless ‘next step’ experiences to support their outdoor passions.”
