It wouldn’t be Monday afternoon on a three-day weekend if we didn’t report on delays on I-17 southbound as vacationers head back to the Valley. So far, the delays have been moderate compared to some long weekends this year.
As of about 1 p.m. ADOT was reporting slowing between Black Canyon City and New River.
Farther north, about 15 miles worth of slow traffic was seen coming south through Cordes Junction as of 1:35 p.m.
And yet farther north, a three-mile stretch of I-17 southbound into Camp Verde was slow, along with the subsequent stretch up the hill.
Still farther north, a crash at milepost 297, near McGuireville Rest Area, is causing a backup to SR 179, ADOT reported at about 1:30 p.m.
The posted speed limit between Sunset Point Rest Area and New River is reduced 10 mph today for southbound travelers.
