One of three Deer Valley Unified School District (DVUSD) public high schools in the area, serving primarily residents east of I-17 from the Carefree Highway south to the Loop 101, plus a pocket of residents all around the I-17/Loop 101 intersection. Goldwater attracts students from elsewhere to its renowned International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

International Baccalaureate (IB program) challenges students to excel in their studies, and encourages both personal and academic achievement. The IB organization supports schools and teachers to provide a rigorous, high-quality education, offering professional development that improves pedagogy and leadership. IB programs attract only highly motivated students, who can choose one of two programs: IB Diploma or IB Certificates. Students can earn IB Certificates in English, French, Spanish, American History, Biology, Physiology, Physics, Math Studies, Theatre, Visual Arts, and more.
