I-17 Lane Restrictions at Happy Valley Road Through Oct. 3
ADOT — Overnight restrictions on Interstate 17 are scheduled near Happy Valley Road in north Phoenix starting Sunday night, Sept. 29, for the ongoing Arizona Department of Transportation project to reconstruct two interchanges along the freeway.
Drivers should allow extra travel time and use caution in work zones while the following restrictions are in place:
Southbound Interstate 17 narrowed to one lane overnight approaching Happy Valley Road in north Phoenix from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 30) and from 10 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 1) for interchange reconstruction work. Southbound I-17 also narrowed to two lanes overnight approaching Happy Valley Road from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday nights (Oct. 1 and Oct. 3). DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes while overnight restrictions are in place.
Northbound I-17 narrowed to two lanes overnight approaching Pinnacle Peak and Happy Valley roads in north Phoenix from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 30) and from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights (Sept. 30-Oct. 3) for interchange reconstruction work. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes while overnight restrictions are in place.
Southbound I-17 on-ramp at Happy Valley Road closed overnight from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights (Sept. 29-Oct. 3) for construction. DETOUR: Consider using westbound Happy Valley Road to southbound 43rd Avenue and eastbound Pinnacle Peak Road to access southbound I-17.
Crews are constructing new bridges over I-17 at Pinnacle Peak Road and Happy Valley Road. The project started in Nov. 2018 and is scheduled for completion in fall 2020.
