I-17 to Close Friday Night at Pinnacle Peak Road

For 15 years, In&Out Magazine has been the definitive source of “Everything that’s going on” in and out of the community. We thank you, our readers, as well as the businesses that support the magazine through advertising, for that opportunity. But with little going on, and many businesses suspending or canceling their ads during the Covid-19 crisis, we are suspending publication of the magazine and web sites for the month of May.

ADOT — Ongoing reconstruction of the Interstate 17 interchange at Pinnacle Peak Road will require a freeway closure from Friday night until Saturday morning (Feb. 29), according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Closures in both directions are scheduled as follows:

Northbound I-17 closed in both directions at Pinnacle Peak Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 29).

Southbound I-17 also closed at Pinnacle Peak Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 29). Pinnacle Peak Road will be closed in both directions at I-17.

Freeway traffic will detour along the off- and on-ramps at Pinnacle Peak Road. Drivers should allow extra travel time and expect heavy traffic in the area. Alternate routes include 19th Avenue in either direction between Deer Valley and Jomax roads.

Crews will be pouring the concrete deck for the second half of the new Pinnacle Peak bridge over I-17. The work is part of ADOT’s $50 million project to reconstruct the interchanges at Happy Valley and Pinnacle Peak roads. The modernized interchanges are scheduled for completion this fall.
