Childsplay: Unique Performance Coming to Canyon Springs School

For 15 years, In&Out Magazine has been the definitive source of “Everything that’s going on” in and out of the community. We thank you, our readers, as well as the businesses that support the magazine through advertising, for that opportunity. But with little going on, and many businesses suspending or canceling their ads during the Covid-19 crisis, we are suspending publication of the magazine and web sites for the month of May.

A unique performance aimed at engaging kids in performance art is coming to Canyon Springs School in Anthem Nov. 17. The Arizona group Childsplay will perform the play “Tomas and the Library Lady.”

About the troupe: Childsplay is an internationally respected professional theater company that aims to “create theatre so strikingly original in form, content or both that it instills in young people an enduring awe, love and respect for the medium, thus preserving imagination and wonder, those hallmarks of childhood that are the keys to the future.”

About the play: Tomás loves stories and Papa Grande tells them to him todas las noches! One day while his family is in Iowa picking crops, Tomás meets the Library Lady and nothing is ever the same again. Soon his imagination takes off as he reads book after book, discovering a world filled with dinosaurs, tigers, and explorers.

The play runs 55 minutes and there will be a 10-minute Q&A session.
