Overnight Lane Closures Planned for I-17 July 15-19

For 15 years, In&Out Magazine has been the definitive source of “Everything that’s going on” in and out of the community. We thank you, our readers, as well as the businesses that support the magazine through advertising, for that opportunity. But with little going on, and many businesses suspending or canceling their ads during the Covid-19 crisis, we are suspending publication of the magazine and web sites for the month of May.

Sections of northbound and southbound Interstate 17 in North Phoenix will be narrowed to one lane during overnight hours next week as crews begin constructing a new bridge deck at Pinnacle Peak Road, ADOT announced.

  • Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane at Pinnacle Peak Road from 10 p.m. Monday, July 15, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, and again from 10 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 17.
  • Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane only from 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 17 to 5 a.m. Thursday, July 18, and again from 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday, July 19

The $50-million project will replace the Happy Valley roundabouts with a “diverging diamond interchange” that’s expected to significantly increase safety and capacity. The new Pinnacle Peak Road interchange will be a traditional diamond interchange that increases capacity. Also, a fourth general-purpose lane will be added in each direction of the interstate between Deer Valley and Happy Valley roads.
