Overnight Lane Closures Planned for I-17 July 15-19
Sections of northbound and southbound Interstate 17 in North Phoenix will be narrowed to one lane during overnight hours next week as crews begin constructing a new bridge deck at Pinnacle Peak Road, ADOT announced.
- Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane at Pinnacle Peak Road from 10 p.m. Monday, July 15, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, and again from 10 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 17.
- Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane only from 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 17 to 5 a.m. Thursday, July 18, and again from 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday, July 19
The $50-million project will replace the Happy Valley roundabouts with a “diverging diamond interchange” that’s expected to significantly increase safety and capacity. The new Pinnacle Peak Road interchange will be a traditional diamond interchange that increases capacity. Also, a fourth general-purpose lane will be added in each direction of the interstate between Deer Valley and Happy Valley roads.
