Charter Schools

For 15 years, In&Out Magazine has been the definitive source of “Everything that’s going on” in and out of the community. We thank you, our readers, as well as the businesses that support the magazine through advertising, for that opportunity. But with little going on, and many businesses suspending or canceling their ads during the Covid-19 crisis, we are suspending publication of the magazine and web sites for the month of May. 


North Phoenix has a diverse choice of chart schools, each with a different mission and academic focus. Arizona charter schools are public school that operate autonomously from the local school district based on a contract with the State Board of Education (learn more). See also our comparative guides to school performance and enrollment.

Adams Traditional Academy

This K-8 is one of several charter schools run by Choice Academies Inc., providing a traditional education.

Anthem Preparatory Academy

Anthem Prep (grades 9-12) and Anthem Archway Classical (K-8) are part of the GreatHearts network of charter schools, known for rigorous academic standards and similarly rigorous behavioral expectations.

Caurus Academy

Small class sizes, individual attention and an atmosphere of caring anchor Caurus' Montessori-like K-8 offerings. A high school is planned for the 2018-19 school year.

Ridgeline Academy

A K-8 charter school that aims to provide a rigorous curriculum with high standards and expectations.

Stepping Stones Academy

A Pre-K-8 charter school that bills itself as a "family-oriented campus, where parents are always welcome," and takes pride in being a small school.
