MCSO: Couple Tied Up in Home and Robbed

Two people were allegedly tied up in their home and robbed of $400 in cash Wednesday near the 34000 block of North 2nd Street in Phoenix, near 7th Street south of Carefree Highway. The suspect, armed with a handgun, is on the loose, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department.

At about 10:30 p.m., a man called MCSO to report that he and his wife had been tied up, MCSO Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez told North Phoenix News. The victim said a masked suspect took the money from his wallet. No one was injured.

MCSO and Phoenix Police Department responded and set up a perimeter. An air unit and a K-9 were dispatched to the scene to help search the neighborhood.

The male suspect was described as 6 feet tall, heavyset, last seen wearing a grey mask, gloves and camouflage clothing.

“The victim stated when the suspect contacted him, he seemed to be very apologetic and stated he was sorry to have to do this but he was hard up for money,” Enriquez said. “This is an open investigation being worked by MCSO detectives.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call MCSO at 602-876-1011.

“If anyone thinks they might have surveillance video from the area which may help us to please call,” Enriquez said. “In addition we urge the community to call in any suspicious activity or anything that may seem out of the norm. Please secure all doors and ensure your security cameras are properly working if you have them.”
