Preschool/Kindergarten Adds Classrooms, High-Tech Gym

For 15 years, In&Out Magazine has been the definitive source of “Everything that’s going on” in and out of the community. We thank you, our readers, as well as the businesses that support the magazine through advertising, for that opportunity. But with little going on, and many businesses suspending or canceling their ads during the Covid-19 crisis, we are suspending publication of the magazine and web sites for the month of May.

Creative Castle Preschool and Kindergarten plans to add classroom space this fall along with a recreational room featuring a virtual reality floor. A new building will house two additional classrooms and a 2,000-square-foot indoor gym with a rock-climbing wall, ball pit and the virtual reality playground, which makes the floor behave something like a giant iPad mimicking an outdoor playground or other interactive games.

The rec room will also be available for private use for birthday parties, and events for local groups and organizations.

“We have outgrown our current classroom space,” said Executive Director Rose Urness. After opening new registration earlier this year for fall 2017 Urness said, “We had a waiting list after five minutes.”

Creative Castle currently serves 162 students, and Urness expects that number to increase to 210 students with the additional classroom space.

The roughly 3,000-square-foot new freestanding facility will be located at 4130 W. Opportunity Way, on the west side of the school’s existing parking lot. Architectural designs were approved by Anthem Community Council at its April meeting and are under review with the City of Phoenix. Groundbreaking is scheduled later this month.

Eyeclick says its projected virtual floor, Beam, stimulates mental and physical play and is hygienic.
