Storm Chaser Photographs Massive Storm Cell from North Phoenix

For 15 years, In&Out Magazine has been the definitive source of “Everything that’s going on” in and out of the community. We thank you, our readers, as well as the businesses that support the magazine through advertising, for that opportunity. But with little going on, and many businesses suspending or canceling their ads during the Covid-19 crisis, we are suspending publication of the magazine and web sites for the month of May.

Jerrod Harris used his phone to image this storm cell west of Anthem on Friday, July 14.

When several storm cells blew through North Phoenix on Friday, July 14, storm chaser Jerrod Harris wouldn’t have been anywhere else. “I live in Phoenix but travel all over the country during the spring chasing storms, then the monsoon during the summer months,” Harris said in an email.

Jerrod Harris was on a hill south of Anthem overlooking the valley, looking west-northwest at around 4:45 p.m. when he snapped this photo with his phone. “This thing is MASSIVE!!!” he tweeted.

Harris sells amazing prints of his weather photos on his web site. You can follow him on Twitter @monsoontracker or at Facebook.com/monsoontracker.
