Your Input Sought on Widening I-17 North

For 15 years, In&Out Magazine has been the definitive source of “Everything that’s going on” in and out of the community. We thank you, our readers, as well as the businesses that support the magazine through advertising, for that opportunity. But with little going on, and many businesses suspending or canceling their ads during the Covid-19 crisis, we are suspending publication of the magazine and web sites for the month of May.

Public comment is being sought on plans to widen Interstate 17 between Anthem and Sunset Point. The project is slated to take place over the next three years.

Construction of a third southbound lane from Black Canyon City to Anthem is planned to start in 2020, with a third northbound lane to be built by 2022, along with flexible lanes up to Sunset Point. The flex lanes could be shut off at either end and used for northbound or southbound traffic depending on need.

Parts of the proposed project are funded, with some aspects remaining under study. The agency invites input at a public hearing later this month, or through June 4 via an online survey, by email or by phone.
