Anthem Community Council Selects New Officers
In a post-election musical chairs event, Anthem Community Council shuffled all its officer positions and seated one new board member at its monthly meeting April 24.
Longtime board member and Parkside resident Terry Mullarkey, who served as vice president and previously treasurer, was elected board president, replacing Country Club resident Roger Willis, who remains on the board. Mullarkey once served as chairman of council’s Fiscal and Resource Management Committee. He is a retired IBM executive who was the charitable giving coordinator for the company’s Phoenix location.
Country Club resident Bob McKenzie, former ACC treasurer, was elected vice president.
John Balzer, a resident of the Village at Anthem, became treasurer.
Board member Darrin Francom, a Parkside resident just re-elected to his seat, filled the secretary position vacated by Rick Kesselman, who left the board. Kesselman was replaced by newly elected Country Club rep Carolynn Hiron.
The new positions were confirmed by acclamation, with only one nominee in each case.
ACC oversees maintenance and operation of common areas, including the community center, community park and civic building. The three separate HOAs are distinct from ACC and enforce homeowner rules and maintain pocket parks and other common areas.
