Wildflower Season Begins: Should Be a Great One

Heavy rains in recent weeks should bring an explosion of wildflowers, those in the know say. In fact, it’s begun. “The colorful poppies, lupine, globemallow and brittlebush are beginning to bloom right now, and will continue to do so during the next few weeks throughout the region,” said R.J. Who Are We? North Phoenix? NoPho? NoVa?

We asked for your suggestions on what to call the broad and fast-growing region of In&Out Magazine’s readership―the I-17 corridor from Norterra to New River. Nearly 200 suggestions poured in. Most were unique. Many were awesome. Some were downright odd. A few themes emerged. But beyond the six suggestions for NoPho (North Phoenix), no clear choice emerged.
