Police arrested a minor last night near the Bela Rosa apartment complex in Anthem after the 17-year-old threatened a man with a “simulated handgun” and assaulted a sheriff’s deputy. A Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department K9 dog made the apprehension.

“About 9 p.m., a 17-year-old male threatened an adult male with a simulated handgun,” said Phoenix Police Sergeant Jonathan Howard. “He then assaulted an MCSO deputy who attempted to detain him before he fled the area on foot.”

Residents heard sirens and a chopper overhead during the chase.
