Pros and Cons to Homes Near Sonoran Preserve

For 15 years, In&Out Magazine has been the definitive source of “Everything that’s going on” in and out of the community. We thank you, our readers, as well as the businesses that support the magazine through advertising, for that opportunity. But with little going on, and many businesses suspending or canceling their ads during the Covid-19 crisis, we are suspending publication of the magazine and web sites for the month of May.

I just read your article regarding a master-planned community near the Sonoran Preserve [See “Master-planned Community,” In&Out Magazine, Nov. 22, 2018]. I have lived in Anthem for 13 years, and through those years I have seen a serious housing boom between Anthem and Happy Valley Road.

There are always pros and cons to a new community. The advantage is that new community building will create jobs. The disadvantage is we are losing the beautiful natural pieces of land that all of us Arizonans enjoy.

I have a feeling that prior to the construction of Dove Valley Road, real estate developers already planned to build along that road. That is such a beautiful short drive that I enjoy. I even mountain bike at the Sonoran Preserve.

I can imagine 10 years from now, that peaceful quiet Dove Valley Road will be another typical road that will connect thousands of cookie-cutter homes built on pristine desert. I am saddened to read this information.

No matter how many residents will oppose, we all know that money talks, and construction will be inevitable.
