Vietnam Veterans to be Honored
DAISY MOUNTAIN VETERANS — The Daisy Mountain Veterans (DMV) announced today a ceremony honoring DMV Vietnam Veterans. Twenty-five of its members who served in Vietnam will be honored at the Anthem Veterans Memorial on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 10 a.m.
Tells DMV event organizer, Jim Oliveri, “Some of these veterans hold multiple combat decorations up to and including the Distinguished Service Cross, America’s second highest military award. Sadly, many have never before been recognized for their service. We hope this event will help to rectify that situation.”
Each honoree will receive the Department of Defense 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Medallion and a commemorative lapel pin.
Presenting the awards will be: Admiral Vernon Clark (Retired, USN) former Chief of Naval Operations, and former member of the Joint Chiefs; and Major General (Ret, USA) Louis Prentiss Jr.
The event also will include music by The Arizona Veterans Band under the direction of Chief Warrant Officer Tony Gonzalez (Retired, USAF) and patriotic pageantry. The public is invited to attend this ceremony to pay tribute to our hometown heroes. Seating and parking are limited. Lawn chairs welcome. The ceremony is expected to last an hour.
