More Rain Adds to Impressive Fall Totals

For 15 years, In&Out Magazine has been the definitive source of “Everything that’s going on” in and out of the community. We thank you, our readers, as well as the businesses that support the magazine through advertising, for that opportunity. But with little going on, and many businesses suspending or canceling their ads during the Covid-19 crisis, we are suspending publication of the magazine and web sites for the month of May.

The latest storm brought more than one-third of an inch of rain to parts of the North Valley, with more on the way through Sunday night. As of 8:20 a.m., 0.45 inches had fallen in gauges just north and just east of Anthem and on the community’s far west side. Tramonto received 0.31 inches, while 0.39 inches fell in Sonoran Foothills and 0.35 inches in Norterra. The totals were among the highest in the Valley—downtown Phoenix got only about a tenth of an inch.

That new numbers bring the 30-day total to more than 4 inches in Anthem and Norterra, 3.82 inches in Sonoran Foothills and 3.19 inches in Norterra. Northern reaches of New River have seen 5.35 inches, while about 3.74 inches to just over 4 inches has fallen across Desert Hills.

The forecast calls for rain off and on through Sunday night, though accumulations will likely be less than 1/4-inch. Monday morning could bring lingering showers.
